Pet Owners Tell Eureka Vacuums About Their Pets' Personalities
Eureka, which makes the Pet Pal bagless upright vacuum cleaner, recently asked America's pet owners to capture their pets in action with their vacuums. Resulting videos ranged from playful pooches to scaredy-cats - with Juanky, a Boxer who lives with Melanie Gamarra in Lothian, Md., earing the title of "TopDog"in the Eureka "Fido'sFight or Flight"video contest.
Bloomington, IL (Vocus) August 4, 2010 -- While Americans know that Eureka never runs from a cleaning challenge, it can be a different story with our pets. So when the company – which makes the Pet Pal™ bagless upright vacuum cleaner – recently asked America’s pet owners to capture their pets in action with their vacuums, it was unsurprising that the stars of the resulting videos ranged from playful pooches to scaredy-cats. Ultimately, Juanky – a Boxer who lives with Melanie Gamarra in Lothian, Md. – earned the title of “Top Dog” for his enthusiastic encounter with the vacuum cleaner.
For the past five weeks, consumers logged on to www.eureka.com/petcontest to submit their 30-second videos and short description of their pets’ personalities for a chance to be featured on the site – and to win a new vacuum cleaner and Walmart gift certificate. If the results of the contest are to be believed, the struggle between furry friends and vacuums is far from over. Some pets, like Juanky, bravely battled their adversaries, while others simply fled immediately.
Of Juanky, Gamarra says, “My boxer Juanky loves things that roll across the floor. When the vacuum comes out, he goes nuts! He thinks he is protecting me or just wants to play with the vacuum. It becomes hard to vacuum at times… but it is definitely entertaining watching him try to conquer the vacuum cleaner.”
Other finalists include:
-Clancy and Kelly Ruiz of Cheyenne, Wyo.
-Ollie and Rachel Dorn of St. Paul, Minn.
-Jazzy, Snowy and Trixie, and Briana Shields of East Norriton, Penn.
-Katie and Buddy, and Tonia Collins of Fort Mill, S.C.
“Congratulations to Juanky and the other finalists – and thanks to everyone who submitted their memorable videos and entries,” said Jackie Cooper, senior director of marketing and communications for Eureka. “We often hear stories about the different reactions that pets have to vacuum cleaners, whether they love them or loathe them. The pets’ reactions in the videos we received were very fun to watch!” As the grand prize winners, Gamarra and Juanky won a $250 Walmart gift certificate and a Eureka Pet Pal vacuum cleaner, which is designed to help pet owners tackle pesky pet hair. The other four finalists received a $50 Walmart gift certificate and a Pet Pal vacuum. All five winners will be featured on the Eureka website until August 27.
The Pet Pal vacuum cleaner offers the Hair Raiser™ for Pets tool, an innovative cleaning brush that can be used independently from the vacuum in three easy steps. First, the Hair Raiser gently but thoroughly removes stubborn pet hair from upholstery, fabric and even clothing. Then it is cleaned on-board the vacuum when the user moves the brush in and out of its holster to loosen the pet hair. Finally, with a flip of the switch, the collected pet hair is whisked away into the dust cup without the user ever needing to touch it.
In addition to Hair Raiser for Pets, the Pet Pal vacuum boasts Whirlwind Cyclonic Technology, which maintains optimal airflow and increased suction, and the PET Power Paw® tool, which uses small plastic teeth and a rubber strip to gently grab and clean pet hair from hard-to-reach areas, such as stairs. And because pet hair is not the only mess that Spot and Fluffy can leave behind, the Pet Pal vacuum cleaner offers HEPA filtration that captures 99.97 percent of dander and other allergy-causing debris.
“The videos we received from animal lovers around the country proved that our furry friends come in all shapes, sizes and personalities,” said Cooper. “The Pet Pal is designed to serve as a cleaning ally for all pets and their owners!”
